Student Competition: Winners issued. Congratulations!

At the beginning of the Competition the short-listed entries  from the 80 submitted entries were displayed in the “Student Competition” area of the O&SB2010 Conference website later the 10 finalists. Now we have the winners:

One First Prize  ($1000) goes to:

638 “New Compound Courtyard House” by Song Zhuangzhuang & Li Ruiqing. Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.

Two Second Prizes ($600 each) go to:

605 “Glenluce Musical Commune” by Laura Harriott. Glasgow School of Art, The Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow, Scotland.

625 “Floating Market” by Leung Ho Kiu, Kei Ka Yat, Chan Tak Yeung, Chan Hon Chu Hansen & Wu Ching Kwong. City University of Hong Kong, China.

Three Third Prizes ($400 each) go to:

517 “Dynamic Open Structure” by Dou Tong & Sun Miao. University of Stuttgart, Germany.

551 “Community of longevity — Reconstruction of community in Hankow “ by Jia Zijjian & Shiyin Zhang. Huazhong University of Science & Technology, Wuhan, China.

601 Infinite loop – A new concept for living and working” by Jasmin Egerter & Vivien Stoffers. University of Stuttgart, Germany.



See the winners projects below:

We expect to invite student winners to the conference and to offer a $1000 stipend to help cover their costs. In case of groups, this amount should be shared by the group. However, all the member registered as part of the team will have the conference fee waived. The winning entries will be included in the published Conference proceedings.

In addition, for the students who entered the competition but failed to win one of the top prizes, their work will be published in an e-book available through the O&SB2010 website and in the CIB W104 website. This e-book will include all the entries includig the winners.

In order to guarantee the confidentiality of the evaluation process by the jury members, at this stage the short-listed, 10 finalists and winners entries are displayed anonymously (only the entry title, not the author’s names). They are available only to view and not to download.

Note:

We have informed the authors of the submitted entries that, by submitting entries in the Competition, they are agreeing to permit the organizers of the O&SB2010 Conference to exhibit and/or publish the entered projects, images, and descriptions during the Conference and as part of future publications, exhibitions, and presentations.

The organizers and associated organizations agree to fully credit the authors and institutions cited as part of the competition entries in any instance where their work is represented. Otherwise, authors retain all rights to submitted work.

Student competition introduction and instructions

FORMAT:

Entries shall conform to the following format: two A1 sized PDF documents (594 mm x 841 mm) oriented vertically (portrait style). Files may not exceed 5 MB.

SUBMISSION:

Submissions will be via Internet. All entries must be in pdf format and digitally submitted.

AGREEMENT TO EXHIBIT OR PUBLISH:

By submitting entries in the competition, authors shall agree to permit the organizers of the conference to exhibit and/or publish the entered projects, images, and descriptions in the conference and as part of future publications, exhibitions, and presentations. The organizers and associated organizations agree to fully credit authors and institutions cited as part of the competition entries in any instance where work is represented. Otherwise, authors retain all rights to submitted work.
