List of topics for the call for abstracts

Prospective authors are invited to submit abstracts of 500 words, maximum, (in English) before October 30th, 2009.

The abstracts should include the title, body of the text, and keywords. On a separate cover sheet, authors’ names, paper title, affiliation, and contact details must be provided.

The abstract must be sent to the following e-mail address jachica@labein.es or uploaded to the Congress website (www.OpenBuilding-2010.org), see detailed instructions below.

Abstracts are invited in the following broad areas:

  • Market size, segmentation and demand for adaptable or open buildings
  • Case studies: successful past attempts at procuring change-ready buildings
  • Implications of open building procurement for stakeholders involved, design & construction process, and facilities management know-how
  • Base building architecture: new thinking in regard to interior public space and facades as architectural issues
  • An Infill industry: a new business entity to meet the demand for variable fit-out
  • New technical products and processes to make open building work effectively
  • Economic studies of open building processes and results
  • Knowledge and design management in open building implementation
  • Incremental housing in developing societies: working with inhabitants in open building processes
  • Change-ready hospitals – open building in the healthcare sector
  • Open-building for ageing people
  • Cost efficient upgrading for energy efficiency through adaptable, open buildings.
